MARYSVILLE, CALIFORNIA: The Marysville Gold Sox fell to the Portland Pickles 8-3 in game one of a three-game series on Friday. A six-run third inning for the Pickles proved to be too much for the Gold Sox to overcome. The Gold Sox cut the deficit to 6-3 in the 7th inning when Justin Cooney-Sylk scored on a wild pitch. The Gold Sox were unable to get anything going in the final two innings though, as the Pickles added two runs to their lead. Cooney-Sylk led the Gold Sox with two hits and two runs scored.

The Yuba City Bears were unable to finish off the Chico Heat as the Heat scored three runs in the 8th inning to beat the Bears 5-4. The Bears led for most of the game but weren’t able to pick up their second straight win against Chico.
